We were asked to accomodate an auditorium, accessible to the public, classrooms and studios for the three disciplines: music, dance, and theater, as well as additional common, resource rooms for this performing arts school.
The diagonal shape of my scheme creates two “U” shapes on the block, inspired by my urban analysis. Two-thirds of my building is also elevated,connecting the two spaces on the site.
Within the building, the classrooms and auditorium are separated into seperate volumes. The center “link” is comprised entirely of common areas including the resources rooms and an improvisational space. There are also many opportunities, sectionally, to interact given the abudance of openings within the floors.
